Unions are the highest form of democracy in action. Your voice, vote, opinion, and safety is the paramount issue with SEIU, together we have fought for Higher Pay, Better Benefits, Job Security, and a Retirement we can count on.
United under one banner all union members and non-members are protected by SEIU and our leadership. As a due paying member you are helping to ensure our Stewards are trained, knowledgeable, and able to stand up to the management and prevent an issue from escalating to the risk of your job or others. Without you we are weaker and have less power over Management and that allows them to continue to make unfair rules, work us harder, expand our job scope, and replace our work with contractors without compensating us.
Even non-due paying coworkers are covered by the union. We protect your right to choose to support us or not, in exchange we hope to earn your trust as we battle for a new, fair contract. In every industry that doesn’t have well established unions, like the Private Sector, workers are valued as nothing more than a number, removing your freedom to have a voice, how to manage conflict, lower pay, worse benefits, and leaves you in a permanent state of limbo as Washington is a Right to Work State (Meaning you can be terminated for any nondiscrimination reason.)Here are just some of the things that SEIU 925 are fighting for for you
Higher Pay, our first Raise since 2008
Protecting FTE from Right to Work, unjustified Termination
Higher Vacation Accurals for New Employees (<5 years of service)
Control and Input at the Standards of Practice (SOP) Meetings
Secured Full Holiday Pay for folks working 10 hour shifts
More Consistent Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA)
More Job Classification based on skills and knowledge
More Scrutiny over what and when a contractor can be called upon
More Transparency with hiring Supervisors
Better and Comprehensive training for Leads and Supervisors.

You have the right to be represented if at any time you believe a meeting is an investigatory interview. Simply say:
“If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, I respectfully request that my union representative or steward be present at the meeting. Without representation I choose not to answers any question.”If a steward or rep isn’t available within a reasonable time frame you may call for any employee to join you for the meeting.

Employee Rights and Due Process Manual: King County
The County’s Process is a bit convoluted, if you believe you have a contract violation or an issue you believe is worth bringing to the union please contact your steward.
